Kelly has improved alot but I agree, I think most thought this would be who played in the Region D finals.

I stand amazed at what these two programs have accomplished over the last few years. Each with back-to-back State Championships in a four year span speaks volumns about the talent/coaching in Scott County. Twin Springs has fielded some pretty tough teams in that time span also.
As for the JJKelly Indians, I was very impressed with how far they have come in such a short time. They should feel very proud of what they have accomplished this year. They sure gave RC all they could handle!

i am more impressed with rye coves program because they have such a small school...gate city has quite a few girls to choose from and gate city's coach fell into a program that was already set up for her

If GC has 600 students and 1/2 are girls then they have 300 girls. If they have 12 on the team, then they have 4% of the girls playing.

If RC has 300 students and 1/2 are girls then they have 150 girls. If they have 12 on the team, then they have 8% of the girls playing.

Bigger schools have more to choose from only if they have a lot come out. Football is probably the only sport that you need a lot of players to play/practice. Look at Appy girls that won the state with only 8 players. Look at Twin Springs who only played 5 players for about 95% or more of their important games last year.

If 12 guys or girls come out for Burton's team, and only 12 come out for kelly's then, there are only 12 to choose from.

you would have more girls who potentially love volleyball and would want to come out at the larger schools.

Exactly. Numbers do make a difference.
